StarCraft 2: User Interface

StarCraft 2 comes with a refined and polished user interface, with many different features that will optimize your success in battle. Below is a list of the new user interfance features.

Idle Workers

When you have idle workers on the map, a small icon will appear on the bottom left portion of the screen, with a number indicating how many. To select them, click the idle workers icon. This feature makes it easier to find workers that would normally be hard to find manually, as well as being a reminder to keep those workers working.

Tech Tree Display

When you select the " Tech Tree" icon, a menu will appear showing the path of requirements you must meet in order to make stronger units, buildings and various upgrades. This feature will make it easier for beginners to learn their way around the factions.

Hotkey Icon Groups

When you select more than one unit and hold the "control" key followed by a number, they will be grouped. To select them, simply press the number you designated to that group of units. In the original StarCraft, many people would get confused on what units they grouped where. With the "Hotkey Icon Groups" feature, small icons appear showing you what unit types you have within the groups. With this feature, ordering units around in the battlefield will become much more coordinated.
